Collection: Native American Pottery

These pieces are from my mother's personal collection. She was a professor of Education at Western New Mexico University where she helped establish the Graduate Studies Center in Gallup, N.M. This program focused on educating Navajo women - work for which she was honored as a hero by the Navajo nation.

She was friends with many of the local artists and her items were either purchased from the artists themselves, local merchants, or received as gifts from students and/or fellow faculty.

Many of her pieces are unique and were commissioned directly from the artists from Navajo, Mata Ortiz and Casas Grandes, Hopi, and Laguna artisans.
