Story:

Liberty Falls came honestly by its Colorado reputation as a “city of churches.” Why, in those pioneer boom days it seems that very few years passed without the establishment of yet another God-fearing congregation. And thus the building of the “Pioneer’s Church” was met with joy by the townsfolk, who would now have another choice for their worship and fellowship—and another pastor in town working for the betterment of all. Reverend Patrick Muir was the gentleman tapped to help build this new flock—and the congregation started off small but enthusiastic. The Reverend—a single gent—made his home in the handsome little rectory cottage right next door to the sanctuary. He was most pleased to see that the ladies of his parish already had planted climbing roses—and the men had seen to it that the church was surrounded by healthy young trees and shrubs.

“This is God’s house, and it’s fitting that it be surrounded by His bountiful growing things,” the Reverend smiled, spreading his hands to take in the beauty in his midst.

Many an afternoon did he spend reading his sacred books and enjoying the view from the bench on the church’s front lawn.
