Story:

After Jason DuBois and his wife Gretchen built their stunning mansion in Liberty Falls, DuBois’ partner at Clark, DuBois Bank & Mint caught the house-building “fever” himself. Before long, Fred Clark and his wife Samantha were debating the merits of front and back porches, dormer windows, turrets, and bays, just like the DuBois’ had before them.

Samantha loved nothing better than to greet guests in her sunny front parlor, while Fred retired to his bookcase-lined study with its cozy, coal-fueled fireplace and flickering gaslights. The Clark children loved the second-floor turret room the best, with its cone-shaped roof and far-and-wide view.

But the whole family agreed that their wrap-around porch was the home’s most inviting feature. There a host of family members and friends could pass a quiet summer evening in their wicker rockers and gliders, listening for the crickets and talking over the day’s events. Years later, that porch was the scene where lovely Ellen Clark accepted the proposal of one of the DuBois sons—a love match that was destined to keep the Clark, DuBois partnership going for at least another generation!
