Story:

With the growing population of Liberty Falls, it was bound to happen sooner or later: competition for the Gold Nugget Tavern in the form of “The Palace Dance Hall and Saloon.” While some folks were scandalized that another outfit would be selling “demon rum” on Main Street, newspaper editor Oliver Cummings took a conciliatory tack in his “Daily News” editorial. “Liberty Falls citizens need to realize that most Western towns count 15 or 20 saloons for every church, while here in Liberty Falls we’ve had but one ‘watering hole’ since the Blue Whale Tavern burned down,” he reminded.

Meanwhile, Liberty Falls miners and ranch hands looked forward to a brand-new delight: the presence of fancy-dressed dancing girls! Yes, it seems Alfred Dunwiddy, owner and manager of the Palace, brought in six ladies from Dodge City just to liven up the new saloon for his customers. The girls could dance and sing up a storm, and they’d even “set a spell” to chat and flirt with customers on occasion. But old Alfred was careful to ensure the ladies’ modesty and security: he built a cozy apartment above the Palace where they retired safely between dance hall engagements!
