Story:

It was crafted of stone with peaked roofs, bay windows, and a sun porch: a house to draw many an “ooh” and “aah” of admiration from Liberty Falls visitors. And it was the pride and joy of Mr. and Mrs. Tully: those hard-working entrepreneurs who built Tully’s General Store into the retail success story of all of Liberty Falls!

Late at night in the early years, after their “frontier department store” was closed, the Tullys would sit by the light of their kerosene lamp and draw up plans for their dream house. And they’d scrimp and save so that they could pay for it in cash: that’s why it was 1877 before the house could be built, just a few blocks from the General Store for convenience. The Tullys enjoyed nine wonderful years in their home—even cut back a bit on their work hours to spend more time there—until Mr. Tully passed away in 1886. After that, although she worked at least part of every day in the store that bore her husband’s name, Mrs. Tully drew more and more of her strength from the serene and lovely atmosphere of the elegant home they had built together.
